Lindsay Who?

by datGurl!

Who does Lindsay Lohan really , in real life, think she is?  An untouchable super hero?  Walkin’ with angels?

This broad has rejected a plea deal, I guess because it includes a lil time in the pokey.  So what else does she expect?

The broad has been in and out of trouble almost since her B-movie career began, always skatin’ just inside the lines and avoidin’  jail time.  Now its lookin’ like they tired of that,  and about to offer this bimbette some real time  in light of this grand theft charge.   And its gonna be a lot more that funky 13 days she spent in jail last year.

Looney Lindsay was already on paper when she took-yes I believe she took it; caught on tape!- that $25ThouWow necklace from the jewlery store.  And she’s facin’ assault charges for attackin’  a worker at Betty Ford while she was there on a ‘court ordered’ vacation.    Bet the judge really likes that…

The Infamous Piece

The courts don’t look lightly on your slappin’ them in the face after they gave you love.   And that’s just what this broad has done from day one.   House arrest, ankle bracelets, n’ shyt, when the average person would have been ‘violated’ on paper and sent to jail for at  least 6 mos to a year.  She got 13 days…

Now she’s waitin’  on a pre-lim.  Takin’ it to trial.  This is where she will surely get it socked to her dumb ass.   She’s pretty much guaranteed jail time.   And they gonna be mad that you wasted their time.   Guess she’s just puttin it off till the very last minute…  We shall see.

In other Pink News:  The owners of Kamofie & Co, the store she lifted the piece from, have announced that once the case is over (and the necklace is released from police custody) they will be auctioning off the infamous necklace and donating the proceeds to their own greedy wallets an unspecified charity…

Well…   Ok then.

My 2¢:

I don’t understand why the card was lost in the first place!   Doesnt he have “people”?  Handlers; folks who take care of his ‘bidniz’?   Nobody missed the dayumm card?  I guess he got so many credit cards…

And why didn’t the Credit Card Company flag some of those purchases, and alert the Card Holder of these excessive charges?? $14,000 in two days, in Lowe’s??   All these plane tickets??  Seems to me these folks mighta been transportin’ drugs or somethin’ , all that back-n-forth shyt…

…just my opinion.

Tyler wants anyone with any info to call the police.

HBO, Oprah to Immortalize Henrietta Lacks

by datGurl!

I blogged this while ago, and now am happy to say there is now a film on this amazin’ woman  in the works!

HBO has acquired the rights to Rebecca Skloot’s non-fiction bestseller “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”,  and will develop a film for HBO based on the book.    Oprah Winfrey is among the project’s executive producers and her Harpo Films production company is on board.

The book tells the true story of Henrietta Lacks, a poor black mother in Baltimore, whose cancerous cells – taken without her knowledge – enabled some of the most significant advances in 20th century medicine,  but with devastating effects on her family.

A HeLa cell (also Hela or hela cell) is a cell type in an immortal cell line used in scientific research.   It is one of the oldest and most commonly used human cell lines.  The cells were propagated (stolen) by George Otto Gey without Lacks’ knowledge or permission – neither she nor her family gave permission -  when she died in 1951.

This is gonna be a very enlightenin’ film.   I can’t wait!

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

by datGurl!

Who was Henrietta Lacks?

She was a poor, Black tobacco farmer in Southern VA who got cervical cancer at 30.  A doctor at Johns Hopkins took a piece of the tumor (without tellin’ her-they called her an “involuntary donor” -wtf!) and sent it to scientists there tryin’ to grow tissues in culture for decades with no success.  They were called HeLa cells for the first two letters in her first and last name.

Why is this important?  The first amazing thing  (to me) is that this man just took what I would think is her ‘personal property’.  Stole it.   But most amazing thing,  is that those cells never died.    And Henrietta’s cells were the first immortal human cells to ever grow in culture.    They were essential for the polio vaccine.     They went up in the first space mission, to see how cells would ‘react’..another “little man” experiment.     They have been used in cloning, gene mapping, and even  in vitro fertilization.

(So knowin’ me, y’all know my next question is, “Who’s gonna pay the descendants?)

This woman’s stolen cells were invaluable to research, and  made a ground-breakin’ impact on medicine as we know it today, though she herself remained unknown.

When the press did get close to her identity, they made up a pseudonym -Helen Lane- to throw them off track.

It was 25 years after she died, a scientific group discovered the connection, and tracked down the family for DNA samples, and solidified that theory.

Sign Says It All…

by datGurl!

9yr ldIn exchange for probation and no jail time,  a PA  woman and her grown-ass  daughter, will sit outside a Pennsylvania courthouse holding signs saying they stole a gift card from a 9-year-old girl on her birthday.

For shame.

Fifty-six-year-old Evelyn Border and 35-year-old bust-down daughter, Tina Griekspoor stood outside the court for 4 1/2 hours Tuesday.    They held signs that read: I stole from a 9-year-old girl on her birthday! Don’t steal or this could happen to you!”

They swiped the gift card off the counter the girl sat it down on, while a Wal-Mart employee was helpin’  her.

‘Nuff  said…
